Having heard tales of “Huey’s famous Name Tag” around town, he decided he definitely wanted a flashy one for himself.

Hannah whipped up some .jpegs in his signature black and yellow and he was off to hit the streets.

The Birthplace and Smack Dab Studios have a long history of working together – their content paired with their trust in SDS made the Birthplace, yet another, slam-dunk for rappid’s platform. Last Spring, Hannah and Liz approached the JGL team for brainstorming on ways to implement the App and how to make it fun for all ages. After a few chatty moments of explaining to them how the App would work – ideas were flying out of everyone’s mouths.

We could do a walking tour and mark all of the places around Savannah that are important to Girl Scout history. Oh! Let’s do a tour of the garden with those “square doohickey things”.

And that’s exactly what we did!

Over the past four months the Birthplace and Smack Dab Studios have worked together to build an App with features that include:

•    Notable quotes from Daisy
•    A comprehensive Girl Scout History walking tour of downtown Savannah with points of interest integrated on a map-view in direct relation to your GPS location
•    A listing of house tours times, special events & hours of operation
•    Area Savannah weather.
•    An interactive QR Code guided tour of the side and rear gardens.

All of which is live in the App store and FREE for download here.

Yesterday, Liz stopped by the house to check out the installation of the Garden Tour. The interactive and educational piece adds more to the App than any of us had imagined. It is safe to say, Juliette Low being the innovative woman she was would be proud and impressed by the technology going on today right in her own back yard.

The stakes have been installed in both the side and rear gardens of the museum house.

As we crossed Broughton St. we shrieked with excitement to see this Pedicab sporting Savannah Magazine’s rappid App and stopped for a photo op!

Not only did they need a new brand, but they had no online presence. In our world this is hard for us to imagine . Working with this family business has been extremely rewarding for our team and we appreciate the trust that they have instilled in us.

Here’s their new logo and we are moving forward with additional branding and web development.

This morning we met with the Boaen’s and Shawn pulled out his iPad to envision how the new logo will look on his trucks. The perfect photo op!

Sometimes g-chat and e-mail just aren’t enough.

Yes, Blake was in Savannah, but Hannah wanted to talk NOW, and the time it would take for him to drive downtown, find parking, and meet up was just not in the cards. By then we would be onto something else, off track and have missed an opportunity to make some real progress.

So… Huey whipped out the iPad2 and within a few minutes we were all gathered around the table hashing out details of our latest project.

I don’t think cool or awesome can even express the amazingness (is that a word?) of this feature. Thanks Fitz for popping in and taking this great shot of us. Go Mobile!

It’s a fast moving world out there, and these days you have to find exciting ways to stand out. We think this guy has done it! Watch how he uses a QR code in conjunction with his resume to get some attention – he got ours this morn!

I find it a tad bit annoying that as soon as I am in a deep passionate relationship with my iPad… Apple releases today the next generation iPad 2. It is slimmer, sleeker, and even has a swanky magnetic “Smack Dab Blue” cover. I knew last December when I bought my iPad there was sure to be a cooler release on the horizon. Even after warnings from Huey, I couldn’t resist and made the plunge anyway.

Yeh… the new one may have a jazzy two-way camera, but I’m not totally bummed. I still *heart* my iPad and I’m looking forward to trying out the Xfinity app tonight (heard at lunch today it is “God’s gift to apps”). So there!

Whatever the generation may be the functionality of the iPad still rocks, so I’m not cutting ties with my lover just yet… even if it weighs a little more.

Thanks to our NEW favorite mobile device, our new projector, (see review from Huey coming soon) we are able to pick up a quick lunch from Panera on Broughton Street, and within a few minutes we are reviewing our latest app in development. If you are looking for a place to work in the Savannah area, ThincSavannah is quiet and a productive atmosphere. We even have our hands on a few FREE passes if anyone is interested.

But this week the relationship with my iPad has forever changed. No longer is my iPad just for entertainment. It has become an exceptionally functional tool in my daily routine.  My iPad is now a second monitor for my laptop.  Yes, it sounds simple, but in fact it is quite amazing.

Years ago when I ditched my big “boat anchor” desktop (a PC, sshhhh, don’t tell anyone) and opted for a laptop, my biggest complaint was that I had a very difficult time designing on the small screen of a lappy.  Over the years, my desire to become more mobile outweighed my frustration at smaller screens.  I decided to just get used to dealing with less and less screen space…and nothing says “less screen” like a  13″ MacBook Pro.  But my frustration has ended.

After reading a few reviews (on my iPad, of course), I decided to fork out the $9.99 to purchase “Air Display by Avatron Software“.  The last thing I thought before I pushed “buy now” was – it better be worth $9.99!

Well, it is.  It’s worth more, way more.

I downloaded the app, launched it, and within seconds my lappy found my iPad.  They are now forever happily linked, in dual-screen bliss.  It’s the perfect location for all those palettes in Photoshop, or for that Twitter Feed that you just can’t seem to pull yourself away from.

On the more technical side of things, the app works over wifi, so no cables are required (gotta love that).  And I happened to have a small folding easel that now serves as the stand for my iPad. No expensive iPad case required. Could it be any easier?  I don’t think so.

So, as I say at the end of all the stories I read to my toddler…”and they lived Happily Ever After”.
